Flag Football

Isaiah was sooooooo excited that he was FINALLY old enough to participate in flag football this year.  He had heard about it a few years ago and was so ready when practice started this fall.  He was on one of the two 1st/2nd grade teams from his elementary school.  He had a few friends on the team, but also got to meet a few new ones too.  Practices were twice a week and games on Saturday mornings.  His team was selected to be the Buccaneers.  This made the weeks a little crazy as we were getting in the the swing of back to school, but he loved it so much.  Levi and Titus didn't mind too much either as they got to play with their friend Ian (Isaiah's teammate Owyn's little brother) and play at the park (after the first couple weeks, practices were moved to a park right by our house!).  Mark was able to help out coaching some which I know was a great experience for him too!

Although it wasn't a winning season, it was a really fun season - Isaiah scored a few touchdowns, made a few new friends and they all had a great time! 

Carving Pumpkins

We set out to carve pumpkins one night in October.  Like the past several years, the boys were super excited about it for about 5 minutes.  Mark started with Levi.

 He was interested to see all the insides, but not interested enough to help.

 

 He did pick the design and watched for a little bit.

 And loved it when it was done.

Isaiah's pumpkin never did end up carved. :)

Cake Auction

I'm pretty sure I haven't written about Cub Scouts yet, but I've been planning to do a summary post about it some time, but this one deserves a post of it's own.  In October Isaiah's Cub Scout pack has an annual cake auction to help earn money for the program.  Each scout (if they choose) is to make a cake all on their own (with adult supervision) that they bring to the auction to sell.  There were a handful of themes to choose from and there would be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner for each category.  After a lot of thought, Isaiah decided he wanted to make a Tiger (as he's a tiger scout, aka first grade cub scout).  So the day before the auction he got busy!

He was so proud to bring his cake the next day - I was so proud of him too! 

 Each boy got to go up front with their cake as the auctioneer took the bids (guy in the blue).  Isaiah's cake sold to Mark for $30 (or $35 I can't remember!).  

 His cake was judged by 3 judges and voted SECOND PLACE in the animal category.

Corn Maze

In October our family went to celebrate pumpkins, corn and all things autumn at a corn maze just outside of town.  

As we were walking in Levi and Titus were immediately drawn to the goats.  Levi LOVES animals.  He always has - Isaiah just doesn't.  We took a few minutes to pet the goats...

 Then we found a barrel of baby kittens.  Levi was in his own little heaven.  He could have stayed and played with the kittens for the rest of the week and he would have been happy.  

 But we were there for the maze and Isaiah was ready for business so off we went.  The corn was so tall!

 We found all of the hidden objects except 1 - eventually the farm lady came and showed us where the sneaky turtle was! 

 After we were finished in the maze we found a few more animals. 

 And the corn box.

What a fun time on the farm!
