Day 2 was Adventureland! We must be there before the gate opens -- that's Mark's long time rule - so we were on the road and ready to start our fun first thing. We took our annual Adventureland family picture (which everyone was thrilled about as you can tell in the picture :)) and waited for the gates to open.
This year was so different that any other year at Adventureland. We had 2 little boys that were tall enough for the rollercoasters! Last year Isaiah was tall enough and after a little convincing he did go on the Tornado. After much talk about it last year, Mark finally got him excited to go on it, but one ride was more than enough for him. This year he wasn't any more excited about the rollercoasters and even refused to go on them until his little brother agreed to go on one. Levi was wildly excited about going upside down and was sooooooooooo happy when we found out he was tall enough. After Levi went a few times on the dragon, Isaiah decided he was ready to try it and he loved it too. This made for such a fun day for all of us.
Another HUGE milestone at Adventureland this year was that Isaiah was no longer considered a "young child." Mark was going to take the big boys on the ski lift across the park while I walked Titus in the stroller. The rule for this is one adult per 2 young children and they wouldn't let Isaiah on with Mark and Levi, but let Isaiah go all by himself -- WHAT?!? I am so thankful I had no clue until it was over as I'm terrified on this thing with a child in my arms, let alone watching him from behind.
Isaiah and Levi rode on many rides together just the two of them. It was a little out of my comfort zone to watch them go at it like "kids" It just doesn't feel right that they are old enough to "do" Adventureland on their own! But they had a ball together, and it worked well for this mama who cannot do rides that go in a circle over and over.
And while the big boys did their rides, across the street Titus did his. I'm pretty sure he would have spent the entire day on this ride -- it brought back memories of Isaiah at this same age who rode it over and over and over too.
Titus also experienced his first "roller coaster" on the log ride. He L.O.V. E. D. it! Look at that big smile :) I think I was just blown away with the safety (or lack of safety) that was allowed - no seat belts, wet seats and a big hill - 18 month old, no problem! :) Okay - maybe this just shows that I'm getting old, who knows.
We had fun taking turns with who got to sit by who on rides and I had fun trying to get pictures before the ride started...
Where to go first was a big decision and the boys did have a good little argument over it, but in the end Levi won and we headed to the pirate ship first. Levi would have rode it over and over and Isaiah - he tolerated it once. :)
I'm glad they still had lots of fun on the smaller rides too. There were several rides the boys rode all together and were all smiles. I love just sitting back watching them have such a good time.
The waits on the rollercoasters were short so we were able to quickly get on, but it was fun to have some one on one time with each boy in line to talk about the ride and how much fun it will be!
Here they go!
I'm glad that Mark can handle the spinning rides because I can't and the boys love them! Even Titus seemed to enjoy them.
Towards the end of the afternoon we did take a break to head to the water park part of Adventureland. We had lots of fun there too - I just love wave pools - I'm not so sure that Titus would say the same :)
After an hour or so at the water park, we decided to change back into our clothes and catch a few more rides before the day was done. And before leaving for the day, it's tradition to go to the train station and pick any piece of candy that you want and eat it on the train.
What a fun, fun day as a family!
