Leaves, Leaves and more leaves.

Our neighborhood is FULL of big beautiful trees.  The fall is such a pretty time - I love to watch the leaves turn colors and see how they all change in shifts - first its one kind and then another.  It's really a great time of year.  We have one tree in our backyard that is particularly beautiful - I look forward to watching the leaves change.  It seems like they all fall off the tree in just a few days.  I love to play in them with the boys.
Our yard waste container is picked up every Monday for a few months -- and then every day for a couple weeks straight.  The boys make for good helpers smashing down the leaves!   We utilized EVERY.SINGLE. pick up the entire fall and still had sooooooooo many leaves left.  Yikes!
Our yard gets sooo many leaves, but our neighbors much, much, MUCH bigger yard gets sooooooooooooooooo many more.  They had huge, huge piles out front as they hired someone to come pick them up.  The boys liked to go check out their piles and play.  We lost a few shoes that we had to go fishing for .. all in a days work :)
Can you find the missing boy?
After all the yard waste pick up days were over, our friend Kyle came with his big mower to get one final huge load.  The boys were impressed and even convinced him to give them a little ride!
And the final goodbye to fall -- the dumping of the pumpkin (that never got carved).  It's time to get ready for Christmas!

Isaiah joins the stitches club

So it was a nice day in November - I knew the bike to the park days were just about over for the year, and we had to take advantage of just one more.  So the boys and off got on our bikes and were off to the park.  We were all having a great time - such a great time that I was too busy being "it" to take pictures so this is the only picture I took.
It was time to go, but the boys really wanted one more round of tag, so I gave in and said one more round.  And what do you know, Isaiah was running toward me and turned just so that the side of his head hit a pole and somehow busted open his ear.  It was bad - like REALLY bad.  Isaiah was screaming -- really screaming -- and he had blood gushing everywhere on his head.  I had no clue it was only coming from his ear lobe and I was freaked.  Titus was not sure what was going on and started running into the street and I have no idea what Levi was doing.  I took my sweat shirt and used it to soak up some of the blood on Isaiah's ear trying to figure out what exactly was the problem only to find that his ear lobe was like falling off.  I was even more panicked.  I had Levi get Titus from the street and called my mom who lives about 5 blocks from the park we were at - no answer.  I tried several other friends, no answer.  I didn't know what else to do so I told Isaiah he was going to have to ride his bike home and he screamed even more.  I was in a frantic state and Isaiah was out of his mind upset and we were stranded with just our bikes at the park.  OH MY GOSH, WHAT DO WE DO!?!?!  I tried my mom again.  She answered.  I only remember saying, I need you to come to the park right now...I mean RIGHT NOW.  and I hung up.  2 minutes later my aunt pulls up with my mom behind her - I throw Isaiah in the back seat of my aunt's car and I get in.  I remember saying to my mom - just leave the bikes if they get stolen it's ok.  And I instruct my aunt to hurry us to the hospital.  We rushed to the local ER and they brought Isaiah in right away.  The nurse cleaned his ear and Isaiah and I had a chance to slow down and breathe.
After it was cleaned up, it didn't look near as bad as it did -- however, there was a HUGE tear in the top of his ear lobe (in the picture it's back together but still very ripped!)
After it was cleaned and we could tell it wasn't a major emergency we got to sit and wait awhile.  Thank goodness for cartoons.
Finally the doctor came back and stitched it up.  Isaiah was very reluctant at first and kicked and screamed about it for about a minute but then calmed himself down.  The doctor was very nice and was trying to be as kid friendly as he could.  He did promise Isaiah ice cream if he did good during his stitches.
Mid-way through my mom and aunt had to drop off the little boys as they had an important meeting.  And I was happy to find out a friend from church happened to be walking her dog by the park and took our bikes to her house so they were safe and sound.  The doctor finished and Isaiah was just fine until the doctor insisted that he wrap his whole head with gauze to keep it from getting bumped.
By the time our discharge papers were ready and Isaiah was as happy as can be.  It did help that the doctor followed through and had the nurse go get 3 vanilla ice creams from the cafeteria.  :)
Wow.  Now that was an experience.

And to follow up -- the stitches ripped out in two places a few days later when the boys were being a bit wild when they were supposed to be going to sleep.  I texted my doctor (yep, his personal cell phone at 8:30 at night) and he responded to meet me at his office in a half hour.  So my dad came over to be with the little ones while Isaiah and I drove back to the doctor -- gross picture, but here's what it looked like.
And after the doctor took out all the stitches and re-stitched it up MUCH better than the ER doctor did, it looked like this.
By now, you can hardly see a scar at all - I am amazed.
