It was FINALLY time for us to leave for our vacation on January 29! Our first stop - Des Moines. We did lots of searching online and found the best prices to fly out of Des Moines (bummer that it wasn't Waterloo or Cedar Rapids, but we figured the drive was worth saving hundreds of dollars!). Rather than pay the airport their daily fee for parking our car in extended parking, we found a hotel that would let us stay overnight on Saturday and leave our car in their parking lot until we came back (and shuttle us to and from the airport) -- and it was CHEAPER than leaving our car at the airport so of course that's what we did.
We left Saturday morning and picked up our little friend Anna who was staying in town with her grandpa and grandma so that we could take her home to her family in Newton - just outside of Des Moines. The boys had a fun time riding with her!
We spent the afternoon with Anna and her family. They made us a really yummy lunch (thanks guys!) and we even got Levi and Anna to nap! Anna really wanted Isaiah to lay with her but we knew that she would never fall asleep if he was in there - so after she fell asleep we took a picture to show her that he came to lay by her when she fell asleep! (notice cute little Benjamin laying on the bed too - his twin sister is not pictured, but they are adorable!)
Later that afternoon we made it to our hotel - first stop SWIMMING! I knew that we probably wouldn't have much time in the days to come on our vacation to go swimming - so knew we'd better get it in now so the boys wouldn't be disappointed.
The boys were SO excited to get to the pool! We need to go swimming more often!! Good thing our swimming lessons start in a few weeks!
The "big" pool was extremely warm - the warmest pool that I have ever felt! It was amazing! If you need to stay at a hotel near the airport, I would highly recommend this one!
We all had tons of fun!
Then off to our room for a pizza party. Then to bed for good night sleep before our big day of flying!!
It was a great start to our vacation!!
