Do you do Santa? We do Santa.
I know people who choose not to do Santa, I know people who choose to make Santa the focus of the Christmas season Santa. We are in the middle - probably closer to the don't do Santa end of the spectrum. When talking about Christmas, we share the story of Jesus' birth. We listen to and sing Christ centered Christmas songs for the most part. We don't talk much about Santa, but he still comes to our house and brings just a few little things. And we do watch Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer (thanks Grandma!) and other cute Christmas cartoons.
One little show we started watching the other day was called Christmas is Here! (or something like that) and it was about Santa using a magical sack to carry all of the toys. The magical sack was the blanket that Jesus was wrapped in when he was born. I didn't catch the rest of the story line, but I thought that was neat.
With that being said, on Saturday morning, the boys got to meet Santa Claus! He made an appearance at Mark's work! The boys were sooo excited all the way there!
As we pulled up, they were both still very excited, but when we got to the door Isaiah instantly became shy and stayed back, as Levi went running!
Santa got out his tin full of goodies to encourage Isaiah to come up to him.and then he wouldn't get off his lap! :) He just sat there. Santa tried to make conversations with him, but he mainly just sat there. Santa asked him about dinosaurs (since he had one on his shirt) and he did say he liked the T-rex. That was about the extent of what he said to him. But he continued to sit on his lap! :) Santa did ask if he would like him to bring him a T-rex and Isaiah said yes (I guess I have one more present to buy!:)
Levi, on the other hand, sat with him for about 2 seconds and then was off to check things out and eat his candy cane. He didn't stop for any sort of conversation or to give any hints as to what he'd like Santa to bring him.
We did have both boys get on Santa's lap (Isaiah happy about that!) to get a picture of the three of them together.
It was cute. The boys didn't want to leave. We were the only people there (other than the few staff at the front desk). I have to say, this was a great way to visit Santa!
